How to remove Searchqu - Removal Instructions Searchqu (Uninstall Guide)

Searchqu is an add-on from Bandoo Media, Inc and it gets installed automatically along with shareware or freeware applications.Searchqu is not a virus or any other type of malicious software. It changes your default home page to point to, installs a toolbar and adds additional search engine called Web Search.

It changes home page as well and redirects the web search in to Searching directly from the address bar redirects to too. So the customers or users installed this one feels it’s a searchqu redirect virus.

Searchqu is an add-on from Bandoo Media, Inc and it gets installed automatically along with iLivid. iLivid is a download manager which gives you the fastest and easiest way to download videos for free.

There’s no need to worry if you install this one because this is not a virus or any other type of malicious software.  If you have Searchqu on your computer, you should have noticed its toolbar installed and additional search engine called Web Search on your browser. Also it changes your default homepage to without user permission.

Searchqu doesn’t appear in the list of programs every time, so you can’t easily uninstall it. If you have the same problem, please follow Searchqu removal guide for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.


To remove Searchqu  web search and toolbar from your computer, please follow the removal instructions below.


Searchqu removal instructions:

Go to Control Panel –> Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features in Vista and 7) –> look for Searchqu Toolbar  —> Uninstall


To uninstall the Searchqu Add-ons   from Mozilla  Firefox

1: On the Menu Bar of  Mozilla  Firefox, go to “Tools” -> “Add-ons“:

2: Select the Searchqu Toolbar you wish to uninstall from the Extensions list – then click “Uninstall“:

3: When prompted to do so, restart Firefox:

Now we need to remove the Searchqu from the Search Engines.

4: Click the small magnifier icon at the right top corner as shown in the image below. Select Manage Search Engines… from the list.

5: Select Searchqu  and click Remove button. Click OK to save the changes. (Not necessary in all the cases. )

6: To remove from Mozilla Firefox’s Home page:

Open Mozilla Firefox, go ‘Tools’ → Options’. Finally, reset the startup homepage or change it to instead of under the ‘General’ tab.

To uninstall the Searchqu Add-ons  from Internet Explorer

1: On the Menu Bar of Internet Explorer, go to “Tools” -> “Manage Addons“:

2: Select the Searchqu Toolbar  you wish to uninstall from the Toolbars &  Extensions list – then click “Disable“:

3: In the Search Providers you may see Searchqu or Web Search! as Defaullt Search Provider. Change that one with any other Search Provider like or

Check and remove Searchqu Toolbars from the Toolbars and Extensions also.

4: How to remove from Internet Explorer’s Home Page:

Open Internet Explorer  and go to ‘Tools ‘→ ‘Internet Options’ → Select ‘General’ Tab. Click ‘Use default’ or enter your own website name, or other instead of Finally, click ‘OK’ to save the changes.


To uninstall the Searchqu Add-ons  from Google Chrome

1. Click on Customize and control Google Chrome icon. Go to Tools  Extensions.

Or  in new Version Tools Settings→ Extensions.

OR got to chrome://chrome/extensions/ in Google Chrome.

Check for any Extensions related with  Searchqu and remove it.
2. How to Remove www. from Google Chrome home page:
1. Click on the icon ‘Customize and control Google Chrome’, select ‘Options’.


2. Choose ‘Basic’ Options and change Google Chrome homepage to or any other website and then click the ‘Manage search engines…’ button.
3. Choose ‘Google’ and make it your default search engine.
4. Select Google from the list and make it your default search engine.
 5. Select Searchqu from the list remove it by clicking the “X” mark as shown in the image below. Chances for Google Chrome get corrupt due to this one very less.
After all  this steps if you are still see the Searchqu or Searchqu   Toolbar do the following also to remove it completely . .
Associated Searchqu, Searchqu Toolbar  files and registry values:
Press on Windows Key and R key together on the keyboard
Now you will get a Run Window. Inside the Run window Type REGEDIT and press on Ok.
Now you can see a Registry. (Be Care Full While using registry)If you are uncomfortable editing the registry DO NOT ATTEMPT IT.If you DO want to edit BACK UP the registry first by using ERUNT which can be downloaded from here Find the steps here How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
After Taking Registry back up Got to the registry locations
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Searchqu  and delete Searchqu
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Searchqu and delete Searchqu
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Searchqu  and delete Searchqu
Delete all of the Folders and Files Associated with Searchqu!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7
In Windows XP
C:\Program Files\Searchqu\
C:\program files (x86)\Searchqu\    (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
C:\ProgramData\Searchqu\       (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
C:\User\{Your User Name}\AppData\Local\Searchqu (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
C:\User\{Your User Name}\AppData\Roming\Searchqu  (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
c:\Documents and Settings\{Your User Name}\Application Data\Searchqu
c:\Documents and Settings\{Your User Name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Searchqu
Delete all this folders called Searchqu…….
And restart the computer. Now it will be gone Fully.
