Remove Babylon Toolbar and “Search the web (Babylon)” (Uninstall Guide)


Babylon is simple one click translation software that comes with a wide variety of language pairs and tremendous dictionary. This one is having few other features also,
Like community-created dictionaries and even a text-to-speech agent to let users hear the proper pronunciation of words Etc… Babylon is not categorized as malware but the tool bar which gets installed along with this software affects users’ browsing experience and it is not quite easy to remove from using the Add/Remove Programs. It once was identified as Adware:Win32/Babylon by Microsoft because of intrusive behavior, however, Babylon is not categorized as malware anymore.

If you find difficulties when you try to uninstall Babylon Toolbar and restore your homepage, try following steps to remove Babylon Toolbar and restore your homepage.

You can remove Babylon software quite easily but Babylon Toolbar and “Search the web (Babylon)” address bar search provider remain in the system even after removing Babylon. Babylon Toolbar comes bundled with other software as well.

Babylon removal instructions:

Go to Control Panel –> Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features in Vista and 7) –> look for Babylon and Babylon toolbar on IE —> Uninstall

Go to C:\Program Files\Babylon\Babylon-Pro\Utils\uninstbb.exe and C:\Program Files\BabylonToolbar\BabylonToolbar\\Uninstall, then run the uninstaller.

Once you removed Babylon and Babylon Toolbar don’t forgot to reset your browser home page.

To uninstall the Babylon Add-ons   from Mozilla  Firefox

1: On the Menu Bar of  Mozilla  Firefox, go to “Tools” -> “Add-ons“:

2: Select the Babylon   you wish to uninstall from the Extensions list – then click “Uninstall“:

3: When prompted to do so, restart Firefox:

Now we need to remove the Babylon from the Search Engines.

4: Click the small magnifier icon at the right top corner as shown in the image below. Select Manage Search Engines… from the list.

5: Select Search the web (Babylon) and click Remove button. Click OK to save the changes.


6: To remove from Mozilla Firefox’s Home page:

Open Mozilla Firefox, go ‘Tools’ → Options’. Finally, reset the startup homepage or change it to instead of under the ‘General’ tab.

To uninstall the Babylon Add-ons  from Internet Explorer

1: On the Menu Bar of Internet Explorer, go to “Tools” -> “Manage Addons“:

2: Select the Babylon   you wish to uninstall from the Toolbars &  Extensions list – then click “Disable“:

3: In the Search Providers you may see Babylon as Defaullt Search Provider. Change that one with any other Search Provider like or

4: How to remove from Internet Explorer’s Home Page:

Open Internet Explorer  and go to ‘Tools ‘→ ‘Internet Options’ → Select ‘General’ Tab. Click ‘Use default’ or enter your own website name, or other instead of Finally, click ‘OK’ to save the changes.


To uninstall the Babylon Add-ons  from Google Chrome

1. Click on Customize and control Google Chrome icon. Go to Tools  Extensions.

Or  in new Version Tools Settings→ Extensions.

OR got to chrome://chrome/extensions/ in Google Chrome.

2.Select Babylon from the Extensions list   and click Uninstall/Remove.

3. How to Remove from Google Chrome:
1. Click on the icon ‘Customize and control Google Chrome’, select ‘Options’.
2. Choose ‘Basic’ Options and change Google Chrome homepage to or any other website and then click the ‘Manage search engines…’ button.
3. Choose ‘Google’ and make it your default search engine.
4. Select Google from the list and make it your default search engine.
5. Select Search the web (Babylon) from the list remove it by clicking the “X” mark as shown in the image below. That’s it.
After all  this steps if you are still see the Babylon  or Babylon   Toolbar do the following also to remove it completely . .
Associated Babylon, Babylon Toolbar and “Search the web (Babylon)” files and registry values:
Press on Windows Key and R key together on the keyboard
Now you will get a Run Window. Inside the Run window Type REGEDIT and press on Ok.
Now you can see a Registry. (Be Care Full While using registry)If you are uncomfortable editing the registry DO NOT ATTEMPT IT.If you DO want to edit BACK UP the registry first by using ERUNT which can be downloaded from here Find the steps here How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
After Taking Registry back up Got to the registry locations
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Babylon   and delete Babylon  
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Babylon   and delete Babylon  
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Babylon  and delete Babylon
Delete all of the Folders and Files Associated with Babylon
C:\Program Files\Babylon\
C:\program files (x86)\Babylon\    (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
C:\ProgramData\Babylon\       (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
C:\User\{Your User Name}\AppData\Local\Babylon      (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
C:\User\{Your User Name}\AppData\Roming\Babylon   (In Windows Vista and 7 Only)
c:\Documents and Settings\{Your User Name}\Application Data\Babylon
c:\Documents and Settings\{Your User Name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Babylon
Delete all this folders called Babylon…….
And restart the computer. Now it will be gone Fully.
